    Structure and Governance

What is the NFP Guide Foundation?

The NFP Guide Foundation (The Foundation) is a volunteer-led, non-profit organisation established as a purpose vehicle of our certified social enterprise, Your Not-for-Profit Guide  Pty Ltd (The Social Enterprise). The foundation was established to be able to run programs and support that The Social Enterprise is not able to fund.

Is it funded by Dubbo Regional Council?

No. The service is entirely non-profit, volunteer led, and supported pro bono by certified social enterprise NFP Guide. It is not funded by, nor maintains any direct operational link to the Dubbo Regional Council.

We have however worked in partnership with Dubbo Regional Council on a Residents night in Dubbo in 2026 and have invited Council to participate and collaborate on other activities including developing a comprehensive community directory.

How is the NFP Guide Foundation governed?

No. The service is entirely non-profit, volunteer led, and supported pro bono by certified social enterprise The Foundation operates under a strict governance framework overseen by an independent Board. The Board is solely responsible for strategic governance, mission oversight, and legal accountability, ensuring that all activities align with public benefit and regulatory requirements

What is the relationship between the NFP Guide Foundation and Your Not-for-Profit Guide Pty Ltd?

While the NFP Guide Foundation and Your Not-for-Profit Guide Pty Ltd have similar purposes, they operate as distinct legal entities with separate governance frameworks.

    • NFP Guide Foundation (The Non-Profit): This entity is overseen by an independent Board of Directors. The Board holds sole responsibility for strategic governance, legal accountability, and mission oversight. Their focus is to ensure all programs align with the Foundation’s public benefit and regulatory requirements.

NFP Guide Foundation is the registered non-profit (“The Purpose Vehicle”) that secures grants and community funding to deliver volunteer services, programmes, and capacity building. The Foundation programs respond to community need. There are currently two programs running in the Foundation – ‘Volunteer in Dubbo’ and ‘Community Capacity Program’.

    • Your Not-for-Profit Guide Pty Ltd (The Social Enterprise): This is a certified operational social enterprise. It acts as the “backbone” support entity, providing office infrastructure, employment frameworks, and general operational resources.

    Decision-Making and Operational Delivery

    • As The Foundation was established as a social purpose vehicle of The Social Enterprise, the CEO as the founder, sits on the board of The Foundation in a voluntary capacity. The CEO makes operational decisions and oversees staff who deliver its programs. The Board directs the organisation through a strategic governance framework.

Does The Social Enterprise (NFP Guide) benefit from the Foundation (NFP Guide Foundation)?

No. The Foundation is operated at a cost to The Social Enterprise.

All Board members are volunteers and do not receive any remuneration or benefit from The Foundation.

Program staff and coordinators are partly funded via grants for direct program delivery. Grants to the foundation only fund some, not all, program delivery costs. All additional operational resources, staff and program expenses not covered by grants are all funded by The Social Enterprise. Over the 2024/2025 financial year alone, The Social Enterprise contributed $75,000 of pro bono time and expenses, including funding the staff and expenses for the inaugural Volunteer Expo.

How does the Social Enterprise generate revenue, and where do its profits go?

Your Not-for-Profit Guide Pty Ltd generates revenue through commercial operations under its specialised brands, which include NFP Guide and Win the Grant or Tender.

To maximise community benefit, the enterprise operates under a locked Social Impact mandate: 100% of all profits from these operations sustain pro-bono sector services and finance the ongoing development and maintenance of iClick2Learn and The Foundation operations.

    General Overview & Mission

How does the "Volunteer in Dubbo Region" fit in?

“Volunteer in Dubbo Region” is a program of The Foundation and a “call to action: to reverse rapid local declines in volunteerism. Led by Coordinator Camilla Ward, the programme’s core goals are to:

    • Raise awareness and actively promote local volunteer vacancies via social media and newsletters.
    • Bridge the gap between large entities and struggling, smaller volunteer-led groups.
    • Contribute towards a comprehensive regional community services directory.
    • Organise three network showcases in 2026 in Dubbo and Wellington.

The Community Capacity Programme (CCP) & Consultations

What is the Community Capacity Program (CCP)?

The Community Capacity Program (CCP) is another program of The Foundation to address the shared challenges local organisations face. This builds on the targeted work we’ve been delivering locally since late 2023.

The program begins with an extensive listening phase to understand exactly what local organisations need, which will directly shape an action plan and a subsequent free 10 event training and support series.

Why are these community consultations happening now?

Many organisations across our region, regardless of their size, are facing critical, overlapping hurdles. These include recruiting and retaining volunteers, finding funding, writing successful grants, managing governance or committee responsibilities, keeping up with compliance, accessing affordable resources, and navigating professional isolation.

To build long-term solutions rather than short-term fixes, the Foundation is asking one simple question: “What does your organisation need?” The formal community consultations will take place in July 2026.

Who should participate in the consultations?

Consultations are completely open to anyone involved in strengthening our community. If your group supports people in our region, we want to hear from you. This includes:

    • Not-for-profit organisations
    • Community groups and charities
    • Sporting clubs and service providers
    • Volunteers, committee members, and community leaders

Where will the sessions be held, and how are they structured?

To ensure regional accessibility, sessions will be tailored across the Dubbo Regional Council area:

    • Dubbo & Wellington: 2.5-hour facilitated face-to-face sessions featuring group networking.
    • Geurie & Stuart Town: Personalised, one-on-one drop-in focus groups.
    • Online: Digital consultation sessions for remote access.

Book into a session here: https://nfpguide.org.au/

How is this capacity-building project funded?

The July 2026 consultation series and the ensuing action plan events are funded by The Social Enterprise and the Future Drought Fund’s Communities Program Regional Drought Resilience Plan Social Outcome Grants.

What will happen with the feedback collected?

The NFP Guide Foundation is committed to listening first, then responding with practical support. The insights gathered will be used to:

    • Build an Action Plan: Create a strategic roadmap focused on attracting sector support across social infrastructure, volunteering, funding, and event support.
    • Deliver a Free 10-Month Programme: Inform a free Capacity and Connection event and training series running from September 2026 to August 2027, tailored strictly to local priorities rather than assumptions.
    • Advocate to Stakeholders: Form a comprehensive community report highlighting the sector’s collective needs to present to the Dubbo Regional Council and other key stakeholders.
    • Foster Collaboration: Identify new opportunities for local organisations to network, share ideas, and work together.

    Professional Training & Sector Resources
